About the Film
The Princess in Yellow follows Melissa, a woman who is doing all she can to stay awake and thereby avoid the recurring nightmare of the Princess in Yellow. Her efforts are in vain as she eventually loses consciousness and the Princess returns, this time to mark her with the Yellow Sign; a harbinger of impending misfortune and doom. The Princess character and the Yellow Sign both relate to Robert Chambers' The King in Yellow.

Origin of the Idea
A few months ago a friend of mine was preparing to start on her first project and had asked my if she could borrow my lighting kit. So we met for dinner at a local restaurant so she gould pick it up. when she started telling me about her project I was suprised to find out that she had not finished the screenplay. She had some ideas about doing something about sleep paralysis but nothing defined. So, we talked about various things she could do and I even drew up a quick storyboard for her. Well, the thought of her not having a screenplay bothered me greatly. The next morning I sat down and wrote out a quick screenplay called La Cauchemar so she would have something. As it turned out, she was able to pull it together and produced a brilliant short, experimental film. Since my friend did not use much of what I had written, I decide to produce it myself. Later, the name of the film was changed from La Cauchemar to The Princess in Yellow.
